Most lingerie is expensive and delicate and you want to keep it looking its best. Some will only handwash their delicate items, but if you’re like most of us, machine washing saves time. Begin by looking at the care instructions on the label. If items are washable, it is always a good idea to use a lingerie bag to keep them separate. A mesh bag prevents tangling and reduces surface wear from friction against tougher fabrics. Use the delicate cycle, cool water and a gentle detergent. It is best to never put bras, panties and shapewear in thedryer. Heat breaks down spandex fibers and elastic. Line-drying is recommended. If the dryer must be used, first lightly shake out the items to untwist them. This will allow quicker, more even drying and reduce wrinkling. Most sexy lingerie fibers have low moisture absorbency so they are fast drying and should be dried on a low temperature setting.
Additional Tips for Caring for Lingerie- Sort articles by color, washing whites, darks and medium colors separately. Lighter garments can pick up dyes from darker colors.
- You can wash your bra in the washing machine, but make sure it is hooked together to avoid tangling or hooking onto other clothing. Use a mesh bag to prevent snagging.
- Separate man-made fibers from natural fibers. Man-made fibers can attract the oils that are released from natural fibers during washing. These oils build up over time and make the spots on the man-made fibers more obvious.
- Sort delicate fabrics from tougher fabrics like denim and terry cloth. This will lessen the friction of fabrics against each other.
- Lint-generating fabrics (fleece, towels) should be washed separately from lingerie. The lint clings to the lingerie fabrics.

I’m here to solve all your wardrobe worries, so that you are free to accentuate all your beautiful features. There are three key elements: dressing for your body shape, identifying and owning your personal style and wearing the sexy lingerie and shape-wear to make the most of yourself in clothes.
First of all take a fair, honest look at yourself in the mirror, and decide which shape description best suits your body. You could fall into one of these categories, or be a blend of a few of them. There are five basic shape categories; the pear, wedge, rectangle, apple and hourglass. Kim Kardashian is a typical pear. Pears tend to be bottom heavy proportion wise, so the aim is to balance out your shape with items of clothing that emphasise your upper body and minimise your lower body. A-line skirts, strapless tops and pointy-toed shoes work well for you. Renee Zellweger is a typical wedge. Wedges tend to have an inverted triangle shape, so the aim is to draw attention to your lower body and soften your top half. Wide leg trousers, full skirts and clothes that create the illusion of a waist work well on you.
Rihanna is a typical rectangle. Rectangles tend to have their waist, hips and shoulders in line with each other. Slim rectangles tend to have an athletic build, so the aim is to create curves and show off your slender legs and arms. Sweetheart necklines, colourful bottoms and tops with ruffles compliment you. Eva Longoria is a typical apple. Apples tend to hold most of their weight above their hips, which are narrow. The aim is to elongate your torso, show off your legs and create the illusion of a waist. V-neck tops, empire dresses and wide leg trousers suit you. Scarlett Johansson is a typical hourglass. Hourglasses tend to have similar proportioned shoulders and hips set off by a small waist, so the aim is to show off your curves. Don’t hide your curves in baggy clothing, try wrap dresses and fitted clothing that clasps your curves and stretches your torso. If none of these shapes describe you also take a look at Trinny & Susannah’s book The Body Shape Bible which describes twelve different body shapes including the column, lollipop, goblet and cornet.
The second step is defining your personal style, which is all about deciding what you think looks good and adapting it to styles that suit you and your lifestyle. According to wardrobe consultant Shana Draugelis, most people find they have nothing to wear because the majority of things in their wardrobe were bought due to budget restrictions and lack of time, and therefore do not express your personal style. She describes two methods of defining your own personal style: the long method being compiling mood boards of outfits you like from magazines, catalogues and online sources over time, as well as pictures of yourself in your favourite outfits, to identify a pattern. The quicker route is finding a range of magazines and catalogues with differing looks or ages aimed at, and flip through them really fast, ripping out anything that catches your eye. The exercise is all about gut instinct so try not to overthink it. Separate the images into two piles, ones you love and ones that are ok, then analyse why you love them to reveal a pattern. Make a collage of these images to use as inspiration for when you are shopping or getting dressed. You could also reference the current trends and celebrity style icons for ideas on what you like.
The third and final step is to invest in some good underwear and shape-wear. With the right tools you can create an hourglass silhouette and slim-line your shape to make yourself appear more slender. But the benefits do not stop there. Shape-wear and a good fitting bra can also promote good posture, by making slouching uncomfortable. Having good posture can help ease back pain and exude confidence to the outside world. A bra that fits well will give you more uplift, better cleavage and can in turn help your self-confidence and any breast size related back problems. Shape-wear can promote weight loss by wrapping around problem areas and keeping them warm, which causes the area to sweat when friction occurs from movement, and the fat slowly disappears. It will also motivate you to lead an active, healthy lifestyle and tackle your problem areas, when you see what your body could look like. Fitting into smaller clothing with the aid of shape-wear boosts your body confidence, even after the lingerie comes off. Hopefully this positive mind frame will remain because being you is a beautiful thing.

If you want to really impress your lady and make some serious brownie points buying her some sexy lingerie can really do the trick. If you are able to pick out just the right item for her it will show her that you really care about her and she will feel like you are the most romantic guy on the planet, but since we are guys we can also screw it up.
I must warn you though that if you go off half cocked that the chances of failure are high and you could end up in the doghouse, or worse! But, if you follow some simple pointers you stand a good chance of reaping the benefits of your purchase, if you get my drift. What's one of the biggest mistakes guys make when buying lingerie? Yeah, we ALWAYS buy it like it is our present, like it is for us. Well, unless you are a cross dresser you need to lose that attitude right now! You need to think about the person you are buying the lingerie for and try to think of what she likes. If you are close enough to her to be buying her lingerie, you should know what she likes and what style she would like as well as what color to get. Some women like baby doll or teddies and some don't!
Don't buy something super skimpy just because you want to see her in it because if she doesn't like it you not only won't see her in it, but you might not see her for awhile! There is a myriad of choices in lingerie on the market today and it seems like the ads are directed at us, some of them will get us in trouble. If your lady isn't into the street walker look for lingerie you will definitely make her upset if you buy her that type. Again, remember, it's not for you! I hate to say it, but you have to be sneaky. If you don't know her size then it's panty raid time. Wait until she isn't around and go through her drawers, and get an idea of what she likes and her size. She will be so surprised when you give her something that she wanted for herself.

The lingerie industry can finally claim an event that is wholly dedicated to intimate apparel: the Lingerie Fashion Week. Its second season, took place in NYC August 1st – August 3rd, with what was ultimately a full immersion in everything that is lacy, silky, flirty, sexy and feminine.
Bradelis NYC kicked off the event with a timeless and feminine SS14 collection. Known for the fabulous fit of their pieces, the label was able to blend classic and sophisticated looks worthy of any body shape and type. Delicate lace, embroidery and exquisite silk in the tones of ivory, peach, pink, red and black were among the highlights.
Rococo Dessous, which launched in May, set a new gold standard in lingerie. The ultra-lux bridal collection, made with a patented 24 karat gold thread from Switzerland, consisted of three lingerie and two sleepwear styles. Inspired by royals like Cleopatra, Louis XIV and Tsarina Alexandra, these opulent pieces are suitable for the modern princess brides ready to utter “I Do”.
Founded in 2011 by designer Melissa Franchi, Nevaeh Intimates used a mix of modern styling as well as old Hollywood to inspire the collection. Dictated by versatile, adjustable and removable styles as well as lace trims, mesh details and printed silk charmeuse, gave life to a glamorous and clever SS14 collection, all made in NYC.
The Secrets in Lace show featured the Secrets in Lace collection, Bettie Page lingerie & stockings and Dita Von Teese stockings. More than a runway show, they created a spectacle that was pure burlesque and pin-up entertainment. We would not have expected any less from the leader of retro inspired stockings and sexy lingerie . The SS14 looks were a vintage chic parade of bullet bras, garter belts, and girdles in glossy nuances and animal prints. Not to mention the authentic vintage nylon stocking made to the exact standards of the 50’s originals.
The maternity and nursing lingerie market has not been the same since Uyo Okebie-Eichelberger founded her intimate label You!Lingerie. The concept is to offer playful, fashionable and fun looks for expecting ladies. The label aced an exciting SS14 collection for mothers to be, judge it yourself!
Noe Undergarments presented a minimal and charismatic SS14 collection. The models sporting a short pink-orange wig, brought us into orbit. The futuristic designs matched with sophisticated tones highlighted the spirit of a nonconventional brand that demands to be noticed in a crowded field of sexy aspirants.
